CASE STUDY: PAWS CHICAGO FUR BALL 2005
BACKGROUND
PAWS Chicago, the city’s largest, no-kill humane organization, hosts an annual Fur Ball, a black-tie event for people and their pets.
CHALLENGE
Flanigan Communications, Inc. was hired just four weeks prior to the event – too late to be included in Chicago’s monthly publications. FCI had to work quickly to ensure media coverage.
RESULT
FCI obtained widespread media coverage. Pre-event coverage included event details in the Chicago Sun-Times, in columns by Stella Foster, Mary Cameron-Frey and “Sneedlings.” Photos and event listings were published in Pioneer Press, Skyline, Booster, and Chicago Loop News; and web postings were found on Metromix and TimeOut Chicago. Camera crews from ABC, CBS and Fox were on-site the evening of the Ball, and aired segments during the 10 p.m. news. Post-event coverage included “Nightspotting” in Chicago Magazine, and photo spreads in the Chicago Sun-Times, Skyline, Booster, Pioneer Press, Chicago Social and Chicagoland Tails. The event drew more than 550 people and 100 dogs and raised more than $310,000, exceeding all expectations.
